We’re excited to announce that Cecile Veerman (TU/e) has stepped into the role of Program Director for the Institute 4 a Circular Society (i4CS). In this position, Cecile will be working full-time for the alliance.

At the same time, we warmly thank Myrra Carstens for her dedication and leadership over the past year as interim director. We’re grateful for her contributions and the momentum she brought to the institute.

As Program Director, Cecile will work closely with researchers from across our alliance—TU/e, WUR, UU, and UMCU—as well as with societal partners, to strengthen our community, build strategic collaborations, and drive real-world impact.

In Cecile’s words:

We are facing major challenges leading to resource depletion, climate change, environmental and biodiversity loss. On top of that, inequality keeps growing. That’s why it’s so important to move away from our current ‘take-make-waste’ way of living. We need to shift towards a circular society, to work on a healthier planet for our children and future generations.

I feel strongly motivated to contribute to accelerating the transition towards a circular society. I believe it is crucial to develop socio-technological innovations and offer systemic, sustainable and integrated solutions to make a real difference. To achieve this, we need to connect, encourage and inspire researchers and stakeholders to work together in transdisciplinary research, education and partnerships.

Cecile will play a key role in shaping the future of i4CS. Stay tuned to our website and LinkedIn page for the latest updates.
