We are excited to announce that two projects that are related to our institute will be featured at Dutch Design Week (DDW) 2024 in Eindhoven. This annual event, celebrated for its emphasis on forward-thinking design and innovation, provides an ideal platform for i4CS to present its latest research. The projects, Greening Interior Spaces and The Green Escape: Return from the Future, each offer a unique approach to addressing pressing challenges while promoting creative circular solutions.
Greening Interior Spaces: Reimagining Interiors as Ecosystems
Reseacher: Oscar Tomico (TU/e)
i4CS Project: The Collaborative Circular Residency Network (C3RN)
Location: Fashion Tech Farm Incubators Exhibition

Greening interior spaces through multi-species design offers a vibrant approach to enhancing our living and working environments. By integrating textile-based interior design pieces, we can invite plants to cohabit alongside us, creating dynamic ecosystems that promote well-being and biodiversity.
In this approach plants are intentionally relocated to adapt to changing climates and habitats. It aims to support ecological resilience. Our integration of living elements in interiors fosters a deeper connection between nature and our daily lives, transforming working and living spaces into thriving biodiversity sanctuaries that reflect the beauty of multi-species coexistence.
The Green Escape: Return from the Future—An Interactive Learning Experience
Researcher: Arghavan Akbarieh
i4CS Project: Affiliated Postdoctoral Researcher
Location: Vertigo building, TU/e campus, De Zaale – Cafeteria corner, ground floor

Learning about sustainability and circularity doesn’t have to be dull! The Green Escape: Return from the Future is an educational escape room designed to teach participants key principles of sustainability in a fun and interactive way. This immersive game offers a unique approach to raising awareness about environmental issues and empowering citizens with the knowledge and tools to support sustainable practices.
Designed for groups of 3 to 6 people, this 45-minute activity is ideal for anyone aged 15 and above. The game’s modular and interactive format is aimed at engaging both the general public and students, offering a dynamic, experiential learning environment that fosters a deeper understanding of sustainability and circularity in buildings, cities, and society.
